COST EFFECTIVE
KITCHEN REMODELING FOR 2010

In today’s economy many homeowners are looking
for the most cost effective way to remodel their kitchens. Homeowners
are no longer looking to outdo their neighbors just for the sake
of one-upmanship. This year homeowners have becoming more focused
on creating kitchens that are attractive and functional without
unnecessary expenses and extravagances.
Your needs could include opening
up the kitchen to another room in order to create a more functional
space that works better for entertaining and everyday living. On
the other hand, you may be basically happy with your kitchens layout
and just need to replace worn out cabinets and appliances. Either
way there will be many choices to be made for function, appearance
and budget restraints.
Kitchen cabinets are the first thing to decide on before you can
consider the other necessary features. If you plan on a complete
redo of your kitchen including the flooring, it will be wise to
consider multiple layouts and options in order to discover the plan
that will work best for you.
Many times your original cabinets can be refurbished to make them
like new. These options include replacing the doors and hardware
if necessary and refinishing the cabinets and doors so that they
will look like new. Click the following link to see an example of

Sometimes new cabinets are the only answer. This can still be done
on a conservative budget by designing the new cabinets to sit on
the same footprint as the original cabinets. By maintaining the
basic configuration money can be saved by not replacing the original
flooring.
There are numerous choices in cabinetry; we have remodeled kitchens
with completely custom kitchen cabinets, manufactured modular cabinets,
and all the way to owner assembled IKEA cabinets. Our focus has
always been to find the best solutions to our client’s situation
in a way that works for their budget.
Now that you have made some decisions on your cabinets you need
to consider your options for counter tops. Solid surface counters
are the best and come in a variety of different materials and looks.
If you have the budget for them, great, if not you’ll want
to explore the endless possibilities of laminate counters. These
counter tops so closely resemble various hard surface counters that
many people will never notice the difference. Because they cost
only a fraction of solid surface counter tops it could give you
the flexibility you need to afford other necessities that don’t
have an affordable alternative. Also counter tops are easy to upgrade
at a later date when you are more comfortable upgrading your new
kitchen.
New appliances are not always a necessity at the point that you
remodel. If your old ones are worn out be sure to do your best to
research features and price. Many times their can be major price
differences for minor features.
